The June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives proudly presents PROOF: We Have Always Been Here, a new photography exhibition by Angela Brinskele co-presented by One Institute. The exhibit will open Saturday, March 21st at the One Gallery in West Hollywood.

Brinskele, a Los Angeles–based lesbian photographer and long-time LGBTQ+ activist has dedicated her career to capturing the vibrancy and authenticity of queer life. In PROOF, she turns her lens toward the invisible and enduring histories that shape contemporary queer experience. Reaffirming that lesbian and gender-diverse communities have always existed, seen or unseen.

“It is still radical even today to focus on lesbians and queer women as though their lives and what they do is important, because it is,” says Brinskele. “We are an important part of a long continuum of human experience, and this work is a testament to that.”

Kymn Goldstein, Executive Director of the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives, adds:

“Angela’s work embodies the mission of the Mazer to ensure our stories are not erased. Her photographs remind us that visibility is an act of courage and love.”

Founded in 1981, the Mazer Lesbian Archives is one of the largest in the world devoted to preserving lesbian and feminist women’s history. The Archives is home to thousands of materials and personal collections chronicling decades of activism, creativity, and resilience.
