Planned Giving

A Legacy Gift ensures you have all of your resources during your lifetime and then your legacy helps support the Mazer after you are gone. When you include The June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives in your will or estate plan, you ensure we keep our doors open for generations to come.

You can gift 2 ways

 
 

You can make a Gift to the Mazer through your Will or Trust (note the Mazer doesn’t have to be the sole beneficiary).

You can name the Mazer as a Beneficiary of your IRA or qualified retirement plan, insurance policy, or bank account.

 
 

Wills and Living Trusts

A bequest to the Archives gives you access to your money during your lifetime and then provides us with resources once you are gone. If you have questions about leaving a legacy gift, you can access additional information here. Please note that you do not have to leave all of your estate to the Mazer but can choose to leave a percentage or specific amount.

To make sure your exact intentions are carried out, wills (or codicils) or Living Trusts should be prepared with your attorney’s advice. A bequest to the Mazer Archives can be in the form cash, securities, real estate, personal papers (i.e. diaries, love letters, etc.) or other property. If you are considering a gift of appreciated real estate, please contact us for advice on how best to meet your charitable objectives.

A Simple Beneficiary Gift, A Lasting Legacy

You can support our mission by naming the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives as a beneficiary of your:

  • IRA or retirement plan (401(k), 403(b))

  • Life insurance policy

  • Bank or investment account

  • Donor-advised fund

These legacy gifts cost nothing now and can provide future support that ensures our work continues for generations to come. Request a beneficiary designation form from your plan administrator or financial institution and list the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives, Tax ID#95-4288435 as a full or partial beneficiary.

Make a Tax-Smart Gift Today with Your IRA

If you're 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to the Mazer and it can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year, tax-free.

It's a smart, simple way to make a big impact. To make a gift from your IRA:

  1. Contact your IRA administrator to request a Qualified Charitable Distribution and have the check made payable directly to the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives.

  2. Let us know your gift is coming so we can properly thank you and provide the necessary documentation.
