Lesbian Connection
The Lesbian Connection is the longest running lesbian magazine in print today. It began in 1974 and has been going strong ever since, with about 15,000 subscribers worldwide. (The University of Alabama Libraries Special Collections N.D.). Many lesbians benefited by their policy, “ Free to lesbians world wide.” Over the years working at the archives, I have heard The Lesbian Connection talked about just like a treasured woman'‘s bookstore. LC is a community center all wrapped up in a magazine. They have encouraged readers to send in photos with their pets and published hundreds of them. So many women have told me about the life long lesbian friends they met across the country or around the world through LC’s Contact Dykes. They talk about how it gives them hope through dark or lonely times, reminding, them that they are not alone. What more could you ask of a magazine than that?
