Our Lesbian book collection is comprised of books that are donated by individuals who seek to preserve the lives of women recorded in literature. Much of our collection contains small press books and lesbian/feminist periodicals dating back to the ’50’s . We also treasure our collection of out-of-date Lesbian fiction that captured the hearts of so many Lesbians who relied on Lesbian fiction to give them assurance and validation of their love of women.
Notably, the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives Book Collection houses a series of original paperback books by well-known Pulp Fiction author Ann Bannon who published six lesbian themed pulp novels from 1957 to 1962 that later became known as The Beebo Brinker Chronicles.
The collection also contains a selection of rare and unique books (find out more here) with one book dating back to 1850 and others published in 1915, 1903 and so on. It is the mission of the Archives to preserve the history of Lesbians (and women who have inspired us) including the collection of books by, about and donated by Lesbians and women throughout history.
If you have books to donate, please consider contacting us at the June L. Mazer Lesbian Archives.
Before donating any items to the Mazer, we ask that you first contact us by snail mail, email or phone to ensure safe arrival of your items.
